1. Content Standards

1.1 Prohibited Content

The following types of content are strictly prohibited from being served through the Adspin.io ad exchange:

  • Malware and Malicious Code: Any ad containing malicious software, including spyware, adware, or viruses, is strictly forbidden.
  • Adult Content: Content featuring pornography, nudity, or sexually explicit material is not allowed.
  • Violent and Hateful Content: Ads that promote violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation are prohibited.
  • Deceptive Content: Creatives that contain misleading information, false claims, or bait-and-switch tactics are not permitted.
  • Illegal Activities: Ads promoting illicit products or services, including counterfeit goods, illicit drugs, weapons, or unlicensed gambling, are banned.
1.2 Restricted Content

The following content is allowed under strict conditions and must be appropriately labeled and targeted:

  • Alcohol and Tobacco: Ads for alcohol and tobacco products must comply with local laws and regulations and target appropriate audiences.
  • Gambling: Gambling and betting ads are allowed in jurisdictions where they are legal and must be clearly labeled as such.
  • Pharmaceuticals: Ads for medicines and health supplements must adhere to all regulatory requirements and include necessary disclaimers.

2. Technical Compliance

2.1 Ad Formats and Sizes

All creatives must comply with the standards of IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) for ad formats and sizes. This includes display ads, video ads, native ads, and rich media formats.

2.2 File Size and Load Time

Creatives must be optimized for quick load times. The maximum file size should be:

  • Display Ads: 150 KB
  • Video Ads: 1 MB
2.3 Ad Behavior
  • No Auto-Redirects: Ads must not automatically redirect users to another page or download files without explicit user interaction.
  • User-Initiated Interactions: Pop-ups, pop-unders, and auto-playing audio are prohibited unless the user initiates them.

3. Brand Safety

3.1 Content Categorization

All ads must be categorized according to the IAB Content Taxonomy. Accurate labeling is essential to ensure ads are placed in appropriate contexts, avoiding sensitive or controversial environments.

4. Viewability and User Experience

4.1 Viewability Standards

Adspin.io adheres to the Media Rating Council (MRC) standards for ad viewability. This ensures that ads are served in viewable spaces and meet the industry benchmarks for visibility.

4.2 User Experience
  • Non-Intrusive Ads: Ads should be designed to be non-intrusive and not disrupt the user experience. Intrusive formats like forced interstitials are only encouraged if they are used judiciously.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

5.1 Compliance with GDPR and CCPA

Adspin.io fully complies with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act). All ads must respect user privacy and protection laws regarding data collection and consent.

5.2 TCF 2.0 Compliance

As an approved IAB TCF 2.0 vendor, we require all partners to integrate with the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) to effectively manage user consent and privacy preferences.

Our platform integrates with top-tier ad verification services such as The Media Trust and Confiant, which provide real-time scanning and monitoring of all live creatives to ensure ongoing compliance and security.

7. Partner Accountability

7.1 Partner Vetting

All partners are thoroughly vetted before being allowed to participate in our exchange. This includes reviewing their historical performance, compliance with industry standards, and commitment to transparency.

7.2 Continuous Monitoring

Partners are monitored continuously to ensure compliance with our ad quality guidelines. Any violations may result in suspension or termination from our platform.

8. Compliance Enforcement and Penalties

8.1 Violation Reporting

8.2 Penalties for Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in:

  • Suspension: Temporary suspension from the ad exchange until compliance is restored.
  • Termination: Permanent removal from the platform for repeated or severe violations.
